Bike helmets are so important that the United States government has created safety standards for them. Your helmet should have a sticker that says it meets standards set by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). If your helmet doesn't have a CPSC sticker, ask your mom or dad to get you one that does. Wear a bike helmet every time you ride, even if you are going for a short ride.
School Wellness - Staying Healthy
It is essential for kids and adults to get a healthy amount of sleep each night to stay focused throughout the day. Although sleep requirements vary somewhat among individuals, most adults need about eight hours of sleep each night, and children and adolescents typically need more than eight hours. To get your kids ready to wake up earlier for school, consider making their bedtimes a little earlier each night for a week or two before school starts. Sticking to a routine is important too, so don’t let weekends become late-night free-for-alls.
Every morning our Food Service Department serves breakfast in the classroom. We serve breakfast to ensure that all children have the opportunity to eat first thing in the morning. It is our intent to meet the nutritional need and enhance the ability of every child. While serving breakfast in the classroom, we expect children to take the main course, fruit side, and provided drinks. Breakfast is free, and we encourage parents to support our healthy breakfast in the classroom options. Look for information in future newsletters, take-home materials, or other means of communication.

Arizona Teachers Academy
The Littleton School District was proud to recently play host for the launch of Governor Doug Ducey’s Arizona Teachers Academy at Tres Rios Service Academy. Part of the reason we were chosen was because of our partnership with ASU on teacher preparation with the iTeach cohort we host each year. Student teachers selected for the first year of the academy work alongside the teachers in our schools.
Governor’s Ducey’s morning involved a tour of selected classrooms and a press conference in the cafenasium. Two third grade classes got front row seats to the event and were so well behaved that the superintendent treated the classrooms to pizza. Principal Dr. Karen Grose and her team at Tres Rios did a great job coordinating with the governor’s education office and the communications staff at the Board of Regents.
The school looked great, and everyone was excited to be a part of the launch. The governor praised the district for our efforts to engage students by supporting families with transportation. Several dignitaries were in attendance, and our board members had an opportunity to take photos with the governor. It was a great showcase for the school and district.
School Bell Changes
To serve the efficient and safe transport needs of our bus riders better, the Littleton Governing Board made slight adjustments to the bell schedules. These changes will go into effect on Tuesday, September 27. Please take a few moments to read the informational letter outlining the changes.
Art Education Page
We have a new district Art Education page. We will be adding new things to the page in the coming weeks, so visit often.
